For our next salon, we will feature for the first time a discussion and presentation about the nexus between art and video gaming with two prominent practitioners who meet in the game engine field but with different perspectives and approaches. The salon will be moderated by Barbara London, independent curator who founded the new media department at MOMA. Barbara hosts a podcast — Barbara London Calling — that features artists working at the forefront of technology and creativity.      Based in Montreal, Lynn Hughes is an artist, game designer, and Professor Emerita who held the Chair of Interaction Design and Games innovation at Concordia University. She was instrumental in the founding of Hexagram (2001) which is an international, interuniversity network for Research-Creation in Art, Culture and Technology. In 2008 she co-founded the first games research center in Canada, the Technoculture, Art, and Games (TAG) Centre. She currently curates exhibitions on games and game culture, and also produces experimental digital-physical games herself.   Leo Castañeda (Miami based, b. Colombia) is a multimedia artist and video game designer exploring Latin American Surrealism in the Digital Age. His artwork primarily takes form in episodic games and immersive installations that meld atmospheric paintings, video, mixed reality, sculptural furniture and wearables. In 2022 he co-founded Miami’s first fine-art video game studio, Otro Inventario – (Another Inventory).
